april 2010 - Running the world to raise money and awareness

Linda Quirk is running the world to raise money and awareness for Caron Treatment Centers, the drug and alcohol treatment community that helped her stepdaughter reclaim her life. In addition, Linda hopes her story encourages a national dialogue about drug and alcohol recovery while inspiring everyone to dream big.

After years of extreme challenges, both on-and-off the course, Linda Quirk is lacing up for one of the most heralding adventures of her life – seven marathons on seven continents.

At 55 years of age and a grandmother of three, Linda is embarking on an eleven-month journey around the world in hopes of raising national awareness and one million dollars for Caron treatment centers – a comprehensive addiction treatment provider that helped her stepdaughter achieve long-term health and recovery from chemical dependency

In 2008, Linda Quirk set out to run a marathon on each of the planet’s seven continents in hopes of raising money for Caron. She kicked off her mission with the Boston Marathon, then went on to run The Great Wall of China, Kenya (Safaricom), Easter Island, Reykjavik, Melbourne and the freezing glaciers of Antarctica.

Linda and her team, composed of Dr Moran, head of Caron institute, her husband and a video operator met with Dianova managers to help start a mutual cooperative agreement, they also visited Pucara's and san bernardo centers where they interviewed a former Dianova resident.
