june 2010 - « la caixa » spanish bank donates 200,000 euros to help renovate dianova’s santa lucia Center

santa luciaDianova representatives and those of the social programs of the Spanish bank, La Caixa, have signed a cooperative agreement focusing on quality of life improvements for those in treatment at Dianova’s Santa Lucia center.

The project was selected by the Catalonian Institution after the launch of its annual request for proposals from various community-based Spanish organizations providing residential stays for those committed to a process of rehabilitation.

The donation, which amounts 200,000 Euros, will be dedicated to completing the heavy work necessary for the makeover of the Santa Lucia center near Ambite (Madrid region). Santa Lucia offers a therapeutic and educational program that annually benefits more than 600 people struggling with substance abuse-related problems.

caixaThe renovation work will facilitate the improvement the residents’ quality-of -life through the rehabilitation of the center’s external and internal structures, including such items as roofing, the frontage building, grounds work, the reinforcement of concrete slabs, carpentry, plumbing, electrical installations, and more. Furthermore, additional residential rooms and common areas will increase the facility’s lodging capacity by an additional 35 residents.

This donation complements the 5,200 Euro donation that was contributed by La Caixa to help rebuild Dianova’s Chile centers, all but one of which had been destroyed by the earthquake that devastated the country on February 27th.

La Caixa's Social Program has been collaborating with Dianova in Spain since 2004. It has helped to finance several projects to improve the residents' quality of life in Dianova centers and implemented multi-role workshops and post-residential follow-up activities for young adults and adolescents.
